Сюжет:
История начинается в лесу недалеко от деревни Всадников. Трое юных друзей — герой, Лилия и Шеваль — обнаруживают блестящее яйцо. Они игриво имитируют Обряд Родства, но, к их удивлению, он действительно работает! Из яйца вылупляется малыш Раталос, летающая виверна, известная как «Король Небес». Они ласково называют его «Ратха» и забирают обратно в деревню.
Несколько дней спустя на деревню нападает монстр, зараженный «Черной чумой». Им удается прогнать его, но не раньше, чем он опустошит город и оставит неизгладимые шрамы на Шевале и Лилии.
Проходит год... Герой получает Камень Родства от Главы деревни и становится официальным Наездником. Шеваль и Лилия покидают деревню, каждый идет своим путем. Герой, теперь разлученный со своими друзьями детства, объединяется с веселым Навиро и отправляется в новое приключение в мир охотников.
