Sueca is a popular point-trick card game enjoyed in Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Macao, Mozambique, Nagasaki, and Goa. It is a four-player game, played in two teams of partners.
The goal of Sueca is to collect as many tricks as you can. The game uses a 40-card deck (a standard 52-card deck with the 8s, 9s, and 10s removed). Card ranks from highest to lowest are: Ace, 7, King (K), Jack (J), Queen (Q), 6, 5, 4, 3, 2. Points are assigned as follows: Ace (11 points), 7 (10 points, called "manilha" in Portuguese), King (4 points), Jack (3 points), Queen (2 points). All other cards are worth 0 points.
When a player wins a trick, they collect the total point value of the cards in that trick. Remember, the highest card of the trump suit always wins the trick!
A two-player variant, known as Bisca, is very similar to Sueca. Bisca is also available to play in this app.
