New Game Plus?
Many RPG enthusiasts relish replaying the main quest on higher difficulties with acquired skills and gear. Unfortunately, Avowed currently lacks a New Game Plus mode at launch. However, Obsidian may add this feature via future updates or DLC based on player feedback, given the significant demand for it.
Despite this omission, replayability exists. Avowed's branching narrative and diverse character builds encourage multiple playthroughs to explore different outcomes and characterizations.
Endgame Content?
Avowed features four main regions, a secret final area, and a return to a major city (details withheld to avoid spoilers). High-level gear, such as Legendary Quality Weapons, is crucial for navigating these challenging final areas. However, this high-level challenge doesn't extend to earlier regions, nor does it unlock new areas. The inability to revisit the Living Lands, shaped by your choices, is a notable drawback.
Post-Game Activities:
Avowed's post-game is relatively limited due to the absence of New Game Plus and endgame content. Upon completion, extensive cutscenes detail the consequences of your choices. Afterwards, you're returned to the main menu.
From the main menu, you can start a new game or reload a previous save. Autosaves are available before the point of no return and the final encounter, allowing for replaying these sections with altered decisions to experience different story endings.
Reloading to a pre-point-of-no-return save allows revisiting previous regions. This enables map completion, achievement hunting, side quest completion, and collecting missed items. Enemies in these earlier areas won't scale to your level, making it incredibly satisfying to revisit Dawnshore, for instance, with high-level gear.
