Netflix Stories Cancelled, Still Playable!

Netflix has officially announced the end of its interactive fiction games under the Netflix Stories banner, marking the conclusion of a brief yet intriguing foray into narrative gaming. This decision might come as a surprise to many, especially considering the solid player base these games enjoyed. So, what led to the cancellation of Netflix Stories? Let’s dive into the details.

The news, first reported by Variety, is part of a larger strategic shift at Netflix Games. The company is now pivoting its focus towards mobile titles, including party games, kids’ games, mainstream releases, and other interactive experiences designed for TV play.

Despite the shutdown of Netflix Stories, Boss Fight Entertainment, the studio behind the series, will continue to work on other projects, including the highly anticipated Squid Game: Unleashed.

Netflix Stories Gets Cancelled, So Is It Shutting Down?

Despite facing some criticism, the Netflix Stories games consistently ranked among the most-played titles on the Netflix Games platform. Recent reports place it fourth in the Netflix Games top 10 carousel, which tracks playtime rather than downloads.

Looking at the future of the series, the final interactive title will be Love Is Blind: NYC. Once its rollout is complete, no new Netflix Stories games will be developed. This announcement follows shortly after the Netflix Stories app began teasing its next game, The Love Contract, originally slated for an April 8th release. Unlike its predecessors, The Love Contract was not based on any existing Netflix IP but was an original romance story about an actress navigating a love triangle between a Hollywood star and a billionaire, set against a backdrop of fame, scandal, and fake dating. Unfortunately, this game has now been scrapped.

Despite the cancellation, existing Netflix Stories games will remain available for players to enjoy. Titles such as Love Is Blind, Emily in Paris, Money Heist, Love Is Blind: Winter’s Kiss, Perfect Match, Sex Education, Selling Sunset, Sweet Magnolias, Virgin River, and The Perfect Couple will still be playable. However, planned sequels for popular series like Outer Banks and Ginny & Georgia have been cancelled.

So, that’s the latest on Netflix Stories! If you're a fan of Netflix shows and want to experience these interactive stories, you can still check them out on the Google Play Store.
