My interest in Pokemon TCG Pocket tends to ebb and flow. I become deeply engaged whenever a new set is released, and I continue playing as long as there are Emblems to earn after securing around 40 wins. Once that's done, my routine shifts to logging in daily, opening my packs, and participating in a Wonder Pick for the fun of it before setting it aside until the next day. This cycle will kick off once again with the arrival of the latest expansion, Shining Revelry, set to launch on March 27th.
Shining Revelry will bring 110 new cards into the TCG Pocket universe, featuring a variety of new Ex Pokemon, Trainers, and the stunning art cards that fans adore. The highlight of this expansion, as hinted by its name, is the introduction of Shiny Pokemon. For those new to the concept, Shiny Pokemon are unique, differently colored versions of the beloved creatures. For instance, you'll find a yellow Lucario instead of the usual blue, and a Pachirisu adorned with a striking pink stripe.
The trailer, which you can view below, offers a tantalizing preview of what's in store. A new Shiny Charizard Ex is set to make an entrance with 180 HP and an attack named Steam Artillery, capable of dealing a massive 150 damage. The caveat? It requires five energy cards. However, its other move, Stoke, enables you to attach three Fire Energy cards in one go, making it a bit more manageable.
Another exciting addition is the Ex version of Lucario. While it played a more supportive role in the Space-Time Smackdown expansion, this iteration of the Aura Pokemon is designed for frontline combat. Although its 150 HP might not set the world on fire, its Aura Sphere attack could be a game-changer, dealing 100 damage for three Fighting Energy cards and an additional 30 damage to one of your opponent's Benched Pokemon.
The trailer also teases other cards that, while not groundbreaking, are still noteworthy and visually appealing. Shiny versions of Wiglett, Pachirisu, and Varoom are set to join the fray, each with their own unique charm. Additionally, there's a stunning Tatsugiri art rare that I'm eager to add to my digital collection.
