Next month, PlayStation Plus subscribers will see 22 games removed from the service's library, including major titles such as Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the last playable versions of first-party titles Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2.
PlayStation Plus is a comprehensive online gaming service for PlayStation users, offering free monthly games, limited-time trials, online multiplayer, member-exclusive discounts, and a catalog of hundreds of current and classic games for Extra and Premium members.
As highlighted by Push Square, the upcoming removal of these 22 games on May 20 will impact the PS Plus Premium library, notably including two significant first-party Sony PS3 titles, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2.

The removal of Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 is particularly notable because these games are no longer available for purchase on the PS Store. This makes the PS Plus Premium streaming service the final platform to experience them, unless players have the games and a functional PS3 at home. Both titles were added to the library at the end of 2024 and are now being removed less than a year later.
The Resistance series, developed by Insomniac, offers alternate history first-person shooter experiences. Insomniac released three Resistance games for the PS3 before shifting focus to other projects like Marvel’s Spider-Man and new Ratchet and Clank titles.
While it is unusual for Sony to remove its first-party titles from PlayStation Plus, it has happened before, as seen with the unexpected removal of both Horizon games — Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon: Forbidden West — in August 2024. However, those games were still available for purchase, unlike Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2, which will vanish entirely from modern consoles.
Interestingly, Resistance 3 and Resistance: Retribution will remain available on the service. Additionally, the recent first-party PS4 title InFamous: Second Son is also set to leave PS Plus.
Insomniac's Resistance series has been inactive for some time. In February, Insomniac founder and outgoing president Ted Price disclosed efforts to develop Resistance 4, but the project did not move forward. The Resistance series, like Guerrilla's Killzone, has been sidelined.
