Krafton has officially rebranded Dark and Darker Mobile to Abyss of Dungeons as a strategic move to distance themselves from the ongoing legal issues faced by Ironmace Studios. Ironmace is currently entangled in a lawsuit with Nexon, who allege that Ironmace misused trade secrets. These claims stem from the fact that Ironmace was founded by former Nexon employees, and Nexon argues that assets and ideas developed during their time at the company were used to create Dark and Darker.
Despite the name change, the core gameplay mechanics of Abyss of Dungeons remain unchanged from what was known about Dark and Darker Mobile. The mobile version was already set to differ from the original with a third-person perspective and other modifications. However, fans of Ironmace might feel disappointed by this shift, though they can look forward to Abyss of Dungeons as a companion to the main PC version of Dark and Darker.
An upcoming soft launch for Abyss of Dungeons is scheduled for June 11th in Brazil, Thailand, Indonesia, and Mexico.
