AMD has unveiled the Radeon RX 9060 XT at Computex 2025, building on the momentum from the RX 9070 XT released in March. Despite the excitement, Team Red has kept details about this new mid-range graphics card under wraps.
The AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT boasts 32 Compute Units and is equipped with a robust 16GB of GDDR6 memory, making it well-suited for 1080p gaming. Given its compact design, it's no surprise that it consumes significantly less power than its predecessor, the RX 9070 XT, with a Total Board Power (TBP) ranging from 150-182W.
With half the Compute Units and power consumption of the RX 9070 XT, the RX 9060 XT is expected to be less powerful but potentially more budget-friendly. Unfortunately, AMD has not disclosed any pricing or release date details for this upcoming graphics card.
The Budget Battles Have Begun
While AMD's silence on the Radeon RX 9060 XT's price is frustrating, it's likely to be competitively priced around the Intel Arc B580 and the recently launched RTX 5060. These competitors have power budgets of 145W and 190W, respectively, and both debuted at approximately $250-$300. AMD is expected to aim for the same market segment.
When the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT hits the market, gamers looking for a graphics card in the $300 range will have three options from different manufacturers. If the RX 9060 XT stays within this price range, it will stand out as the only GPU offering 16GB of VRAM, compared to 8GB from Nvidia and 12GB from Intel.
While I'll need to test it in the lab to gauge its performance, if the RX 9060 XT matches its competitors in terms of GPU strength, its larger frame buffer could give it a longer lifespan as games increasingly demand more video memory. Only time will reveal the final cost of the RX 9060 XT, but it's shaping up to be a contender in the budget GPU market worth keeping an eye on.
