After just under a year on the market, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is being discontinued. Activision has officially announced that the mobile version of their renowned battle royale game will no longer receive seasonal updates or new content. As of May 18th, the app has been removed from the App Store and Google Play Store. Real-money transactions have been disabled, and players who haven’t downloaded the app by the specified date will no longer have access to it.
This sudden halt signifies the end of a highly anticipated mobile game that aimed to deliver the complete Warzone experience to mobile users. Despite Activision's pride in the game's fidelity to its console and PC counterparts, Warzone Mobile reportedly did not resonate as strongly with mobile gamers.
For those who already have the game installed, online access and matchmaking will continue post-May 19th. However, social features within the game will be turned off, and no specific date has been set for the complete shutdown of servers. The in-game store will remain operational for now, but only for users with existing COD Points, and no new purchases can be made.
As a gesture of goodwill, players with remaining COD Points can transfer them to Call of Duty: Mobile. Until August 15th, by logging into Call of Duty: Mobile with the same Activision account, players will receive double the value of their unused Warzone Mobile COD Points, along with extra rewards.
For those yet to install or reinstall the game by May 19th, this is your final opportunity. Post this date, no refunds will be issued, and access to the game will be permanently lost. This marks a somber conclusion to what was expected to be a significant expansion of the Warzone universe, serving as a stark reminder that even the most successful franchises can struggle to maintain longevity on mobile platforms.
