After a 25-year hiatus, the iconic role-playing game, Breath of Fire IV, has been resurrected on PC. Originally launched on the PlayStation in Japan and North America in 2000, followed by Europe in 2001, the game saw a PC port in Europe and Japan in 2003. The narrative centers around Ryu, a unique protagonist who can transform into a dragon, and his alliance with fellow warriors to thwart an emperor's apocalyptic plans.
As part of its commitment to preserving gaming history, GOG has meticulously updated Breath of Fire IV for today's PCs. The DRM-free release on their platform ensures players can enjoy the game without any digital restrictions. This enhanced version is optimized for modern systems, compatible with Windows 10 and 11, and includes both English and Japanese language options.
Graphically, the game has been revitalized with an upgraded DirectX renderer, offering new display options such as Windowed Mode, V-Sync, Anti-Aliasing, and enhanced gamma correction for a superior visual experience. Additionally, the audio has been improved, with the restoration of environmental sounds and new configuration options to enhance immersion.
