Darth Jar Jar Joins Fortnite: Fans Stunned at 1 Million XP Requirement

by Gabriella May 26,2025

Fortnite's Star Wars season has just unveiled its most anticipated skin yet, Darth Jar Jar, but with a twist that has left the community buzzing. This iconic character from a galaxy far, far away comes with a hefty requirement: players must grind through 1.28 million XP before they can even consider purchasing it. And even after reaching this milestone, Darth Jar Jar still demands 1500 V-Bucks (approximately $13) from your wallet.

While Fortnite has occasionally locked skins behind XP walls, the move to do so with a skin as eagerly awaited as Darth Jar Jar during this condensed Star Wars season has caught many off guard. With the season ending on June 7, the clock is ticking for players to amass the necessary XP, especially for those who have already completed their battle pass.

The reaction on platforms like Reddit has been mixed. One fan expressed frustration, saying, "I was so hyped for this skin and was fine with it being behind a paywall, after all, it is just another skin. But this whole locked behind an XP wall is ridiculous. You want me to earn the right to give you money? I immediately closed the game." The sentiment reflects a broader concern about the additional grind required to unlock the ability to purchase the skin.

Adding to the controversy, Darth Jar Jar is not alone in the shop. A regular Jar Jar Binks skin is also available without an XP requirement, albeit for the same 1500 V-Bucks. For those wanting both skins and their accompanying accessories, the total could reach up to 6,500 V-Bucks. As one fan pointed out, "Regular Jar Jar alone is 20 dollars. If you want both, that's 52 entire ass dollars for something that ought to have just been 1 skin with 3 styles."

Despite the backlash, some players argue that Jar Jar is merely a cosmetic choice, and there's no obligation to buy him. "It wasn't that hard to earn the XP; it took me around 8/9 hours," shared another fan. "I had no plans on Saturday. I did it in 3 sittings, but all in one day. I played Rocket Racing and Ranked and did Alignment Challenges to farm as much XP as possible. Nothing is making anyone get every item in the Shop; you can just pick and choose, and the fact he was just 1500 V-Bucks when Deathstroke was 1,800 V-Bucks, I wasn't bothered at all by the price."

As Fortnite's Star Wars season progresses, the focus shifts to Mandalorian warriors, with a highly anticipated customizable Mandalorian skin set to hit the Shop soon. The season will culminate in a live narrative event on June 7, where players might find themselves boarding the Death Star that has loomed over the game's Island since the season began.
