Behaviour Interactive has unveiled an in-depth look at its latest addition to Dead by Daylight, the new Killer known as Springtrap, set to bring a touch of Five Nights at Freddy’s to the game on June 17, 2025. The reveal, shared with IGN ahead of the public test build (PTB) launch, dives into Springtrap’s unique abilities and how they'll resonate with fans of the iconic horror series.
This upcoming Chapter is poised to be one of the most significant in Dead by Daylight’s history, largely due to Springtrap, also known as The Animatronic. This menacing yellow rabbit, complete with an axe and a rich backstory in the Five Nights at Freddy’s universe, has never been playable before, giving Behaviour Interactive the creative liberty to reinterpret his character for the game.

Springtrap wields a giant pizza knife as his primary weapon, but it's his fire axe Power that truly stands out. This axe can be thrown to reveal Survivors, and if timed perfectly, it can stick in a Survivor’s back, setting the stage for a chilling Five Nights at Freddy’s-style jump scare when Springtrap retrieves it.
Adding an extra layer of excitement, Matthew Lillard, known for his role in the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie, lends his voice and likeness to The Animatronic’s Yellow Rabbit Legendary outfit. Other outfits available for Springtrap include the Legendary Glitchtrap, and the Very Rare Clown Springtrap and Toxic Springtrap. Additionally, Survivors can sport Freddy Fazbear’s t-shirts.

While Springtrap is a major draw, the new Chapter introduces the iconic Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria map, meticulously crafted to reflect the famous location with a few eerie twists from The Entity. Key areas include the Front Entrance, Kitchen, Janitor Room, and Dining Hall, complete with appearances by Bonnie and Chica. The map is not only a thrilling new playground for Dead by Daylight players but also comes packed with Easter Eggs and jump scares.

Even on other maps, the essence of Five Nights at Freddy’s is felt with the addition of security doors, cameras, and a special office, allowing Survivors to track Springtrap's movements, provided they manage their battery power effectively.
