Nintendo's Hello, Mario! Interacts With Mario's Face

Nintendo has just launched a new gaming app titled Hello, Mario!. Announced earlier this month, it is now officially available for download on Android, iOS, and Switch devices. The catch, however, is that it is currently exclusive to Japan—at least for the time being.

Not Your Typical Mario Adventure

Unlike Nintendo's past releases such as Mario Kart Tour or Super Mario Run, Hello, Mario! isn't focused on achieving high scores or winning races. Instead, it’s a playful application designed for parents and children to enjoy together.

When you open the app, Mario's face appears on screen. Tapping and stretching his 3D head recalls the experience of playing with the Super Mario 64 start menu back in the N64 era.

Hello, Mario! essentially functions as an interactive soundboard. Users can pull up new interactive objects, poke or drag Mario's face, and be rewarded with his classic audio reactions.

The app is charmingly simple and silly, built to encourage playful experimentation. To get a better sense of it, check out these official videos Nintendo released for Hello, Mario!.

Nintendo Says: "Hello, It's Me, Mario!"

The app serves as the first entry in Nintendo's new My Mario product line. It aims to build a bridge for children just discovering games and the parents introducing them to the world of the Mushroom Kingdom.

Alongside the app, Nintendo has also released two wooden block sets and a Hello, Mario! board book. While the app is currently a Japan exclusive, the broader My Mario product line is scheduled to launch internationally starting in early 2026.

There is no confirmed timeline yet for when the app itself will be released in other regions. For those in Japan, you can find Hello, Mario! available on the Google Play Store.
