The Viper, a high-ranking dragonkin created by Hismar, is designed to lead defeated dragons in their quest for chaos. Even without accessing Hismar’s full power, this boss is no pushover.
Before engaging, ensure you’ve equipped the appropriate skills for your chosen weapon. Summoning the Spirit of Advocacy just outside the gates can provide crucial assistance during the fight. When facing the Viper, stay alert for the following attacks:
- Three-hit Combo: Starts with two stabs and ends with a spear swing.
- Two-hit Combo: Spear swings from left to right.
- Sweep and Leap: Followed by a spear throw, potentially twice.
- Four-hit Combo: Spinning spear with additional swipes.
Timing your blocks and executing Perfect Guards will rapidly deplete the Viper’s stamina. Take every opportunity to pressure the boss with attacks and Brutal Attacks. The Spirit of Advocacy can serve as an excellent decoy.
At approximately half health, the Viper will roar and summon an energy tornado around itself. Move away to avoid being pulled in.

Following the energy blast, watch for its leaping slam. The Viper will also use a grab attack, indicated by the flashing spear tip—dodge to the right to evade. Additionally, it gains a new ranged attack where it spins the spear vertically before performing jumping attacks.
All previous attacks become stronger and faster, so maintain constant blocking as a precaution. Perfect Guarding the final hit of its five-hit combo will stagger the boss, allowing you to unleash massive damage.
After reducing its health to zero, brace yourself—the real challenge begins.
Phase 2

Tapping into Hismar’s power, the Viper becomes even deadlier with a full health bar. Its attacks now include downward smashes with its fortified left arm and slashes with the giant sword. Roars signal incoming two-wide arm attacks followed by a Burst Attack—Counterattacks are essential to stun the boss during these moments.
When its health reaches the halfway point, the arena dims as a storm brews. Lightning flashes indicate the Viper will leap toward you multiple times, culminating in an uppercut. Dodge or parry these attacks while exploiting its aggression. A leaping slam is added to its repertoire, so adjust your positioning accordingly.
Monitor your stamina closely to avoid exhaustion when the Viper prepares for sustained combos. Defeating the boss rewards you with over 10,000 Lacrima, Hismar’s Scale, several Fallen Lord items, and the coveted Hunter’s Ring.
