Helldivers 2 to Remain Arrowhead's Main Focus for a Long Time, CEO Says

by Christian May 16,2025

Arrowhead, the developers behind the hit game Helldivers 2, have recently addressed concerns from the community about potentially shifting focus away from the game to work on their next project, known as "Game 6." In a statement made on the official Helldivers Discord, CEO Shams Jorjani reassured fans that Helldivers 2 remains their primary focus, especially following the successful launch of the full-scale Illuminate invasion.

Jorjani emphasized the positive impact of the community's support, stating, "The wonderful thing is that thanks to the amazing support of you FINE people Arrowhead's future is quite bright and we have the freedom to explore some really cool concepts that we couldn't have otherwise. Game 6 (our next project) will happen the way it will happen thanks to you." However, this comment sparked some concern among fans, fearing that resources might be diverted from Helldivers 2.

Quick to dispel these worries, Jorjani clarified, "Nah. It's ALL Helldivers 2 for now. A very, very small team will spin up something later this year and go at it sloowly. Helldivers is our main focus and will be for a loooong time." He further elaborated on the longevity of Helldivers 2, saying, "As long as you folks keep playing and buying Super Credits we can keep it going," referencing the game's virtual currency used to purchase Premium Warbonds.

Jorjani also touched on the development challenges faced by Arrowhead, mentioning that last summer they were struggling but managed to turn things around thanks to the community's support. Looking ahead, he shared insights into the development of Game 6, stating that Arrowhead aims to focus on nailing the "core s\*\*t" early on, a lesson learned from the eight-year development of Helldivers 2. "For the most part of the development cycle games plain suck," Jorjani explained, emphasizing the importance of extensive playtesting.

In response to a fan's request for Arrowhead's next game to be available in all regions, Jorjani confirmed that Game 6 will be 100% self-funded, giving Arrowhead full control over its distribution. This statement suggests that Game 6 will not be a sequel to Helldivers 2 and will not involve Sony or any other publisher.

Alex Bolle, production director on Helldivers 2, echoed Jorjani's sentiments in a recent interview with IGN, expressing a desire for the game to last for many years. Bolle highlighted the team's motivation to stay true to the Helldivers 2 fantasy while continuously introducing new features and systems. He also mentioned the excitement of working in a live game environment, where creativity can flourish and new ideas can be integrated into the game.

Recent leaks, including one from PlayStation, suggest that a new playable map, Super Earth, may soon be introduced as the Illuminate invasion reaches our home planet. This development further underscores Arrowhead's commitment to keeping Helldivers 2 fresh and engaging for its dedicated player base.
