As we approach the eagerly awaited August release of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Konami has unveiled the stealth game's opening movie, much to the delight of fans.
Though there are slight deviations, the opening should feel instantly recognizable to those familiar with the original, right from the iconic newspaper sequence and the James Bond-esque title song, which is beautifully reprised by the original performer, Cynthia Harrell.
The video offers tantalizing glimpses into the game, including scenes like Snake executing an Olympic-style backward dive off a waterfall, and the memorable moment of Snake the Snake Eater consuming a snake. These moments, while out of context, are sure to excite fans.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a remake of Konami's 2004 action espionage classic, originally titled Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Konami has confirmed that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will launch on August 28, and fans will be pleased to know that the beloved Snake vs. Monkey minigame is making a return. Additionally, the game will retain the suggestive and sexual content from Metal Gear Solid 3, including the Peep Demo Theatre, as per an age rating. In our Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater preview, IGN remarked that the game feels more like a "very shiny HD remaster" rather than the transformative remake it could have been. While it offers an "admittedly beautiful nostalgia trip," it remains "almost faithful to a fault." The original Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater received an impressive score of 9.6 from us, setting a high bar for this remake.
