HoYoverse has filed a trademark for "Honkai Nexus Anima," sparking speculation about a new addition to the Honkai series. This development suggests exciting prospects for miHoYo and their future projects.
New HoYoverse Game Possibly In The Works
Honkai Nexus Anima Filed For Trademark
HoYoverse is set to expand its Honkai universe with a potential new game in the series. The Chinese game developer miHoYo, along with its global subsidiary HoYoverse, has applied for a trademark for "Honkai Nexus Anima." Although details are scarce, the name implies it could be the third installment in the Honkai series, following Honkai Impact 3rd and Honkai Star Rail.
The application for Honkai Nexus Anima was initially spotted on the Korea Intellectual Property Information Search’s (KIPRIS) website, which was later removed. However, the U.S. trademark remains accessible on the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s (USPTO) website.
The Honkai franchise began with Honkai Impact 3rd, a free-to-play mobile action RPG considered the spiritual successor to Houkai Gakuen 2, a classic 2D side-scrolling shooter. Subsequently, Honkai Star Rail was released in 2023, another free-to-play mobile game but with turn-based gameplay.
Though both games share a thematic connection to space and occasionally similar characters, they are set in distinct universes with unique narratives. Fans are speculating that Honkai Nexus Anima might continue this trend, potentially introducing a new genre, given miHoYo’s history of diverse game development.
New Twitter (X) Accounts
Following the trademark filings, fans have observed new Twitter (X) accounts created under the Honkai Nexus Anima name. These accounts, such as "@HonkaiNA", "@HonkaiNA_RU", and "@HonkaiNA_FR", suggest a strategy to secure social media usernames for consistent branding across platforms.
miHoYo Recent Job Postings
Earlier this year, miHoYo posted job listings that hinted at their ongoing projects. According to GosuGamers, citing @chibi0108 on Twitter, they are developing an "auto-chess" game involving "Destined Spirits." While direct access to the original job listing is unavailable, these details remain speculative.
Although HoYoverse has not officially confirmed any connection between Honkai Nexus Anima and the auto-chess game, fans are linking the two. Given miHoYo’s successful track record with Honkai Impact 3rd, Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero, there's high anticipation for their next project.
