by Finn May 20,2025

Star Wars Celebration unveiled thrilling new details for the upcoming The Mandalorian and Grogu-themed update coming to Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run, set to coincide with the release of the new movie. In this update, Engineers will have the unique opportunity to care for Grogu, while players will explore new planets like Coruscant, alongside familiar locales such as Tatooine, Bespin, and Endor. This choose-your-own-adventure-style storyline promises an immersive experience filled with exciting twists and turns.

Mark your calendars for May 22, 2026, when this update launches. Although the storyline will diverge from the plot of The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, it will still prominently feature both Din Djarin and Grogu. The narrative kicks off with Hondo Ohnaka learning of a lucrative deal on Tatooine between ex-Imperial officers and pirates, sparking a high-stakes chase across the galaxy. Guests will join forces with Mando and Grogu to pursue these criminals and claim a bounty in a dynamic, galaxy-spanning adventure.

While full details are yet to be revealed, it's confirmed that Engineers will play a pivotal role, entrusted with the care of Grogu. This adds a new layer of interaction and excitement to the experience.

In an exclusive interview with Walt Disney Imagineering's Asa Kalama, we gained further insights into what fans can anticipate. "Throughout the mission, we're going to give the engineers the chance to communicate directly with Grogu," Kalama explained. "It's going to be a lot of fun. There may be instances where Mando needs to leave the Razor Crest, leaving Grogu to his own devices, and he might get a bit too enthusiastic with the control panel. These fun, spontaneous moments will create memorable vignettes where you're in direct communication with Grogu."

Regarding the choose-your-own-adventure aspect, Kalama shared, "There will be a critical moment in your adventure where you're pressed for time and must make a swift decision about which bounty to pursue. This decision will be the catalyst that determines the different destinations you'll visit."
