Milly Alcock, known for her role as the young Rhaenyra Targaryen in the acclaimed series House of the Dragon, faced an early challenge in her career. Just two days into filming the Game of Thrones spinoff, a high-ranking individual on set suggested she needed an acting coach. Alcock shared this daunting experience during a recent appearance on The Tonight Show, expressing how "mortified" she felt at the time.
Reflecting on the incident with humor, the Critics Choice award nominee admitted it reinforced her self-doubt, jokingly stating, "It just confirmed everything that I’ve kind of known to be true, [which] is that I’m not very good at my job. You know what I mean! I was like, ‘I can’t do this. This is terrible. This is a big mistake.’"Despite this early setback, Alcock's portrayal of King Viserys I Targaryen's daughter and heir has been a crucial part of the series. She appeared as a series regular in Season 1 and made guest appearances in Season 2, which explores the decline of the House Targaryen. The role of the adult Rhaenyra is played by Emma D’Arcy, who depicts her journey to becoming Queen.

House of the Dragon premiered in August 2022, shortly after the conclusion of the original Game of Thrones series. Its success was immediate, securing a Season 2 renewal just days after its debut and a Season 3 renewal in June 2024, even before Season 2 began airing. The series also clinched a Golden Globe for Best Television Series — Drama.
Looking ahead, Alcock is set to take on the role of Kara Zor-El / Supergirl in the upcoming Superman movie this summer and in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow next year. As for Season 3 of House of the Dragon, while it's confirmed to be in development, an official release date has yet to be announced.
