Nintendo has unveiled the **Switch 2 Welcome Tour**, a unique game set to launch alongside the highly anticipated Switch 2. This game, however, comes with a twist—it's not a free pack-in title but a separate, paid digital download. Revealed during the recent Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, the Switch 2 Welcome Tour serves as a "virtual exhibition" designed to introduce players to the new hardware through a series of tech demos, minigames, and interactive experiences. According to Nintendo, this tour will allow players to explore the new system in depth, offering insights and features they might not have discovered otherwise.
The Direct showcased a player avatar navigating a larger-than-life Switch 2, learning about its features and technical details. The game functions as a virtual museum, complete with interactive elements like Speed Golf, Dodge the Spiked Balls, and a Maracas Physics Demo. Nintendo confirmed via their stream and a press release that the Switch 2 Welcome Tour will be available for purchase on the Nintendo eShop on the day the Switch 2 launches.
While the concept is intriguing, fans have expressed surprise and curiosity over the decision to make this an additional purchase rather than including it with the console. As of now, no pricing details have been disclosed.
In addition to the Welcome Tour, the Switch 2 will launch with titles such as **Mario Kart World**, **Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster**, and **Deltarune Chapters 1 through 4**. With a variety of high-profile games vying for attention, the Switch 2 Welcome Tour will need to justify its place in gamers' budgets.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is slated to launch on June 5, 2025, with a starting price of $449.99 USD. For those interested in a bundle, the option including **Mario Kart World** will be available for $499.99.
