Palworld's latest update, v0.5.0, introduces a host of exciting features, including crossplay across all platforms. This update allows players to store Pal data in the Global Palbox and transfer Pals between different worlds. A new storage system, the Dimensional Pal Storage, offers 10 times the capacity of the regular Palbox. This system can be accessed by guild members and can also be set to private for personal use.
Players can now change their character's appearance using the new Cosmetic Armour System without affecting armor stats, thanks to the Antique Dresser. The update also includes a Photo Mode accessible from the Pal Command Wheel, allowing players to take stunning screenshots by hiding the UI and adjusting the camera. Additionally, the Drafting Table enables players to combine low-rarity blueprints to create higher-rarity ones, enhancing their crafting options.
Dedicated servers for Mac are now available, improving the gaming experience for Mac users. Other specification adjustments include the ability to place buildings even if they overlap with a Pal, automatic alignment of connected foundations or roofs, and the addition of torches at dungeon entrances for better visibility. Assigning an Ice Pal to the Flea Market slows down item decay in storage and sales, and players can now sit on chairs and cushions. New NPCs with improved behavior during conversations have been added, and some weapons no longer drop items upon destroying trees.
Balance adjustments in the update include changes to elemental chest rewards, with Dog Coins guaranteed and a small chance of work suitability books. The EXP gained from defeating the Attack Chopper has been increased, along with the DPS of Flamethrowers. Default attacks for Electric and Dark Pals have been adjusted, and some human NPCs now have work suitability and animations when assigned tasks at a base. Summoned raid bosses can no longer damage other bases, and the Water attribute has been added to Dumud. NPC event rewards have been adjusted, with all conversation logs reset for fairness.
The UI has been enhanced with categorized favorites, continuous value adjustment in the Pal Soul Enhancement UI, a new sorting option for Pal Box by Work Suitability Level, and an "Extra Large" text size option. Fullscreen Mode has also been added. Several new achievements have been introduced to keep players engaged.
Numerous bug fixes are included in this update, addressing issues such as players being launched into space while climbing, getting stunned over water while riding a flying Pal, and commanding Pals to attack NPCs like the Black Marketeer and Medal Merchant. Other fixes include issues with Bounty Tokens, dismounting Azurmane, Pals getting stuck on feed boxes, raiding NPCs attacking through walls, and Bounty Token effects not applying upon login.
Since its early access launch in January 2024, Palworld has attracted an incredible 32 million players. Developer Pocketpair has outlined a content roadmap for 2025 that includes an "ending scenario" and more new content. The game launched on Steam for $30 and on Xbox and PC via Game Pass, breaking sales and concurrent player number records. The massive success led Pocketpair to form Palworld Entertainment with Sony to expand the IP and launch the game on PS5. However, the studio faces a lawsuit from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company over alleged patent infringements, which Pocketpair is prepared to contest in court.
