Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge, its latest flagship smartphone, at its May Unpacked event. While it shares much in common with the standard Galaxy S25 released earlier this year, its sleek, slimmer profile aims to give it a distinct advantage.
On paper, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is strikingly similar to the Galaxy S25 Ultra. It utilizes the same Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and boasts a comparable 200MP primary camera. The key divergence lies in its design: the chassis has been dramatically slimmed down to a mere 5.8mm, compared to the 8.2mm thickness of the Ultra model. Naturally, this leaner build also reduces weight, bringing it down to just 163 grams.
The device sports the same 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display as the standard Galaxy S25, despite housing specs that largely match the larger 6.9-inch Galaxy S25 Ultra.
With a form factor this large and thin, durability is a primary consideration. Samsung asserts it has tackled this by upgrading to the new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, touted as more robust than the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the Ultra. Beyond drops, a major question is how it will hold up to everyday stresses, like being sat on while in a pocket. (Will this be enough to avoid a new "bendgate" controversy?)
The Galaxy S25 Edge also comes equipped with the full suite of "Mobile AI" tools first introduced with the Galaxy S24 and refined throughout 2025. The onboard Snapdragon 8 Elite chip enables significant local AI processing, enhancing privacy, though many third-party AI applications will still rely on cloud connectivity. Samsung's own features include handy tools for summarizing notifications and articles at a glance, for those who find them useful.
Pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge begin today. Pricing starts at $1,099 for the 256GB variant and $1,219 for the 512GB model. It will be available in three color finishes: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.
Samsung is making a strong case for this slender phone's resilience; only time will tell if their confidence is well-placed.
