In the world of television, it's a well-known fact that nothing good stays dead for long. This year has already seen the revival of beloved universes like *The Office* and *Buffy the Vampire Slayer*, and now, fans of the iconic 2000s hospital sitcom *Scrubs* have something to celebrate. It's been 24 years since Zach Braff first donned the scrubs as junior doctor JD at Sacred Heart Hospital, and now, Braff has agreed to reprise his role in ABC's upcoming *Scrubs* reboot. This new series is set to blend both new and familiar faces, promising a fresh yet nostalgic experience.
The concept of a *Scrubs* revival might ring a bell, as ABC previously attempted a similar idea during the show's ninth season. That season saw Braff and other original cast members passing the torch to a younger ensemble, but it didn't resonate with audiences and was cut short after just nine episodes. Fast forward nearly two decades, and ABC is taking another shot at bringing back the beloved series. This time, the original creator, Bill Lawrence, is at the helm, aiming for a reboot/revival hybrid that will capture the essence of what made *Scrubs* special.

With Braff's deal now finalized, *Entertainment Weekly* suggests that other original cast members might soon follow suit. Bill Lawrence has shared his vision for the reboot with *Deadline*, explaining the dual motivation behind bringing back *Scrubs*. "We've been talking about it a lot, and I think the only real reason to do it is a combo," Lawrence said. "A: people wanting to see what the world of medicine was like for the people they love, which is part of any successful reboot. But B: I think that show always worked because you get to see young people dropped into the world of medicine, knowing young people that go there are super idealistic and are doing it because it's a calling."
*Scrubs* originally aired 182 episodes between 2001 and 2010. While there's no confirmed start date for filming the new episodes yet, anticipation is building for what promises to be a heartfelt return to Sacred Heart Hospital.
