How Diamondback Works in Marvel Snap

Diamondback is a 3-Cost, 3-Power card with the following ability: "Ongoing: Enemy cards here with negative Power gain an additional -2 Power."

This creates significant synergy, as Marvel Snap has introduced numerous cards that inflict negative Power – most notably U.S. Agent and Man-Thing. Other options include Scorpion, Hazmat, Cassandra Nova, Scream, Bullseye, and more. To make her effectively a 7-Power card, you'll want her Ongoing effect to affect at least two enemy cards.

Be aware that Luke Cage completely negates her power output, making her useless. Enchantress and Rogue can also quickly neutralize this snake-themed villain's threat.

While Diamondback might seem like a niche card, she actually fits well into several competitive archetypes – including Scream Move, Toxic Ajax, High Evolutionary, and Bullseye Discard decks. In my opinion, she will see the most play in Toxic Ajax and High Evolutionary decks, though these lists share many similarities. Let's examine two distinct decks where she excels: Scream Move and Toxic Ajax.

Kingpin Scream Kraven Sam Wilson Captain America Spider-Man Diamondback Rocket Raccoon and Groot Polaris Doom 2099 Aero Doctor Doom Magneto

The Series 5 cards in this deck are Scream, Sam Wilson Captain America, Rocket Raccoon and Groot, and Doom 2099. Scream and Rocket Raccoon and Groot are essential for the deck to function properly. If you don't have Sam Wilson, consider replacing him with another affliction card like Scorpion.

The strategy revolves around moving your opponent's cards across the board while applying afflictions with Kingpin and Scream. Placing Diamondback in the same lane as Kingpin can effectively secure that location; you'll subtract -4 Power from any cards pulled or pushed there, while Scream gains power elsewhere.

The deck's second component is a Doom 2099 package, as you typically play few cards on the final turns. Combining Aero with Doctor Doom or Magneto – plus an added Doombot and any affliction from moving cards – can quickly build substantial power.

Now, let's explore Diamondback's more natural home: the Toxic Ajax deck.

Silver Sable Hazmat US Agent Luke Cage Rogue Diamondback Red Guardian Rocket Raccoon and Groot Malekith Anti-Venom Man-Thing Ajax

This list contains numerous Series 5 cards, including Silver Sable, U.S. Agent, Red Guardian, Rocket Raccoon and Groot, Malekith, Anti-Venom, and Ajax. Silver Sable can be replaced with a card like Nebula, but the others are largely essential for optimal performance. This is one of the most expensive decks in the game, but it's also incredibly powerful.

The objective is to maximize Ajax's Power using all your affliction cards. Sometimes, you may choose not to play Luke Cage to further boost Ajax. Malekith can randomly pull cards like Hazmat or Diamondback for sudden power spikes, while Anti-Venom can deliver a surprising burst of power on the final turns.

Rogue is included because Luke Cage is expected to be prevalent during Diamondback's release week. Since this deck is severely hindered by him, having Rogue as a counter is crucial for maintaining its effectiveness.

Is Diamondback Worth Spotlight Cache Keys or Collector’s Tokens?

If you own most of the affliction-style cards needed for an Ajax deck or frequently play Scream, Diamondback is a valuable addition to your collection. However, if you generally avoid affliction strategies or lack key cards like Scream and Rocket Raccoon and Groot, she's safe to skip, as she only shines in these specific, often expensive, deck types.
