As if fans could resist the return of Alicia Silverstone in the iconic yellow and plaid outfit. The beloved actress is set to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz in a highly anticipated Clueless sequel series, which is currently in development with Peacock.
While plot details are still under wraps, we do know that this series will continue the story from the original 1995 film. This new project is distinct from the Clueless spin-off that Peacock had previously planned in 2020, adding to the excitement of what's to come.
The creative team behind the series is nothing short of stellar. Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, renowned for their work on the original Gossip Girl series and its reboot, will be writing the series alongside Jordan Weiss. They will also serve as executive producers, joined by Amy Heckerling, the original writer-director of Clueless, and Robert Lawrence, the film's original producer. CBS Studios and Universal Television are on board to produce this much-awaited continuation.
This isn't the first time Clueless has made its way to the small screen. After the success of the 1995 film, a television adaptation aired on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999, featuring Rachel Blanchard as Cher instead of Silverstone.
Silverstone's recent return to her Clueless character in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten shows her eagerness to step back into Cher's world. Fans are just as eager to see her bring the beloved character back to life in this new series.
