Amazon's highly anticipated God of War TV series is already set to captivate audiences for two seasons, even before its premiere. Showrunner Ronald D. Moore, who stepped in following the exit of Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus, shared insights into his latest project during a chat with Katee Sackhoff, his former colleague from Battlestar Galactica.
"Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of, there's a video game called God of War, a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of and they've asked me to come in," Moore explained. "So I'm literally in the writer's room, and working on that. That's my new thing."

Despite not being an avid gamer, Moore shared a humorous take on his gaming experiences, mentioning his struggles with classic games like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede. He amusingly recounted, "'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead," illustrating his challenges with modern game controllers.
In his new role with God of War, Moore will not only serve as the showrunner but also as a writer and executive producer. His impressive resume includes notable works like Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and the critically acclaimed 2000s Battlestar Galactica.
While the previous team has seen some departures, Sony's Cory Barlog remains on board as an executive producer. Although details about the series are still emerging, it is confirmed that the show will be based on the 2018 edition of God of War.
Amazon's swift renewals of other video game adaptations like the Fallout TV show and Secret Level hint at a promising future for God of War on their streaming platform. This early commitment to two seasons suggests high expectations and confidence in the project's potential to engage and thrill viewers.
