Pre-orders for the much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 were initially set to begin globally on April 9. However, due to economic turbulence stemming from Trump's tariffs, Nintendo had to postpone the pre-order start date in the U.S., followed by a delay in Canada. Meanwhile, pre-orders proceeded as scheduled in other regions, including the UK.
According to a FAQ on Nintendo's website, the first wave of invitations for pre-orders through the My Nintendo Store will begin on May 8, 2025. There's currently no information available regarding pre-orders at retail stores.
Nintendo has indicated that additional batches of invitation emails will be dispatched periodically until the My Nintendo Store opens pre-orders to everyone.The initial batch of invitation emails will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis to eligible registrants who meet specific priority criteria. Those receiving an invitation will have 72 hours from the time the email is sent to finalize their purchase.
