Capcom has subtly teased Resident Evil 9 right under our noses. To celebrate reaching a monumental 10 million players, the Resident Evil 4 development team released a celebratory video on social media on April 25. The video features Ada Wong conversing with a notorious villain, followed by a scene of Leon surrounded by an infected crowd wearing party hats, casually making their way to a church.
The video then transitions to a rock song, with Dr. Salvador humorously strumming his chainsaw like a guitar, and the camera pans to show Leon energetically fist-pumping. In the background, a rustic sign reads "Thank you for playing."

However, if you tilt that "Thank you for playing" sign sideways, the boards form the Roman numeral "IX," which signifies the number 9. While some might argue it's a mere coincidence, horror game leaker Dusk Golem points out that there's no lower plank on the same sign in earlier parts of the video, suggesting it was deliberately added. What do you make of that?
"I know what you did here," said one surprised commenter, accompanied by a wide-eyed emoji.
Capcom has also confirmed that the next mainline installment in the Resident Evil series, presumed to be Resident Evil 9, will be helmed by Resident Evil 7 director Koshi Nakanishi.
"It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil 7]," Nakanishi said at the time. "But I found it, and to be honest, it feels substantial. I can't share any details just yet, but I hope you're excited for the day I can." Rumors suggest — though not confirmed — that the game will be set on an island inspired by Singapore.
