CDPR Game Director Departs to Launch Own Studio

Following the releases of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, not all CD Projekt RED veterans remained with the company. Some chose to pursue The Blood of Dawnwalker.

Recently revealed, The Blood of Dawnwalker is developed by Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by a CD Projekt RED veteran.

Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, explaining his departure from CDPR, highlighted several key reasons:

The desire to pursue different creative avenues with trusted friends led to the formation of Rebel Wolves. Their shared passion for RPGs and their rich history is undeniable. However, Tomaszkiewicz believes RPG conventions can be significantly enhanced and expanded upon. The team conceived ambitious, unconventional ideas. Securing buy-in for such innovative concepts and new intellectual property from a large corporation proved challenging. Therefore, establishing their own studio became the necessary path to realizing their vision. This innovative approach inherently carries risk.

Unlike the complexities of large studios, Rebel Wolves prioritizes direct collaboration and strong interpersonal relationships within its smaller team. Tomaszkiewicz believes this fosters superior communication, streamlined vision alignment, and a more potent creative spark, ultimately facilitating the development of truly unique experiences.
