Conquering Lu Bu in Dynasty Warriors: Origins: A Comprehensive Guide
The game frequently warns against engaging Lu Bu, proclaiming him the strongest warrior. However, defeating him offers significant rewards, including bragging rights, story progression (for Shu or Wei players in Chapter 4), a trophy ("The Strongest"), and the game's ultimate weapon, the halberd (post-game). This guide details how to overcome this formidable foe.
Preparation is Key:
Before the battle, optimize your equipment. A multi-hit sword to stagger Lu Bu is crucial. Select Battle Arts with low Bravery requirements, quick activation, and wide range (e.g., Falcon Flurry, Mad Blade Rush, Absconding Slash, Flying Dragon Slash). Prioritize accessories boosting health and defense (like Divine Bird’s Wing and Divine Turtle’s Shell). A weapon granting Bravery on Perfect Evades is highly beneficial.
Phase 1: Mounted Lu Bu:
Initially, Lu Bu rides Red Hare. He primarily charges, occasionally pausing. Exploit these pauses to unleash Battle Arts, then retreat. His attacks generally have limited area of effect, except for Red Hare's aerial dive, making evasion relatively easy. Once his health reaches 80%, he dismounts, initiating the next phase.
Phase 2: Lu Bu on Foot:
Dismounted, Lu Bu becomes even more aggressive. His attacks are rapid, and he frequently dashes across the battlefield with a red aura, rendering him immune to staggering. Evade his charges (he attacks in sets of three). A charge without his spear indicates a grab attempt; evade this immediately.
His most dangerous attack is signaled by an orange glow. He unleashes three powerful ranged arrows three times. Use a long-range Battle Art like Absconding Slash to counter; close-range arts will likely prove fatal. Keep your Musou gauge full for emergency invincibility.
Lu Bu is surprisingly susceptible to juggling in this phase. Maintain close proximity for better reaction time and to quickly recharge Battle Arts, breaking his Fortitude meter faster. Prioritize evasion consistently.
Phase 3: Lu Bu's Musou Rage:
Upon reaching a certain health threshold, Lu Bu enters Musou Rage. He becomes unstaggerable and unleashes relentless attacks. The objective is to deplete his Fortitude before he executes his Musou attack; otherwise, the phase restarts. Utilize all available resources: Musou attacks (when close), Battle Arts, and rapid, powerful strikes.
Victory:
By skillfully employing these strategies and adapting to Lu Bu's changing attack patterns, you can successfully defeat this legendary warrior and claim your rewards.
