Both Blizzard Entertainment and Grinding Gear Games have remained silent on whether they will ban the accounts of Elon Musk following his admission of engaging in account boosting in the action RPGs Diablo 4 and Path of Exile 2. Screenshots of a private conversation with a YouTuber revealed Musk's confession to paying for boosts, which is considered cheating and violates the terms of service of most live service games, including Blizzard's end-user license agreement.

The gaming community has expressed frustration and disappointment over the developers' lack of response. Players on the Path of Exile forums and Battle.net have questioned the integrity of the games and the enforcement of their terms of service. One Path of Exile player lamented the potential undermining of the game's credibility, while a Diablo 4 player demanded equal enforcement of the rules, regardless of Musk's status.
When contacted by IGN, both Grinding Gear Games and Blizzard declined to comment on the matter, with Blizzard stating that they do not discuss individual player account behaviors or enforcements.
Musk, who has boasted about his gaming achievements, including claiming to be among the top 20 players in Diablo 4 and having a hardcore level 97 character in Path of Exile 2, admitted to the boosting after scrutiny from the gaming community. His busy schedule as the head of Tesla, SpaceX, X/Twitter, and his recent role as Donald Trump's efficiency tsar had led many to question how he could achieve such high levels. A livestream further fueled doubts about his understanding of the game mechanics.
In a direct message exchange revealed by the Diablo player NikoWrex, Musk confessed to account boosting, citing the need to compete with Asian players as his justification. Despite this, he maintained that when he streams or posts gameplay videos, it is genuinely him playing.
Amidst the controversy, musician Grimes, who shares three children with Musk, defended his gaming accomplishments, asserting that she had witnessed his achievements firsthand.
Further allegations surfaced when Musk's Path of Exile 2 character was seen active in the game while he was attending Trump's inauguration in Washington, casting more doubt on his claims and actions.
