Digimon Story: Time Stranger Leaks Before PlayStation Showcase

by Noah May 03,2025

A new installment in the beloved Digimon video game series, titled Digimon Story: Time Stranger, appears to have been leaked by GameStop, just ahead of tonight's PlayStation State of Play presentation. This leak was spotted and shared by Gematsu, which provided store links that allow interested gamers to pre-order the game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Although the GameStop listings lack images or gameplay details, it's likely that more official information will surface soon.

The timing of this leak is particularly noteworthy, as it comes just hours before Sony's latest State of Play presentation. While Sony has kept the content of the show under wraps, they have announced a 40-minute duration, leaving ample room for new game reveals. Given the recent appearance of pre-order listings for Digimon Story: Time Stranger, it wouldn't be surprising to see this digital monster series featured in the presentation.

The Digimon Story series has a rich history, beginning with the original Digimon Story for the Nintendo DS in the mid-2000s. Since then, Bandai Namco has released numerous titles across various platforms, including the well-received Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth in 2015 and its follow-up, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker's Memory in 2017. A Complete Edition combining both Cyber Sleuth games was released in 2019.

In these games, players are typically transported into the Digimon universe, where they befriend and battle alongside digital monsters in RPG-style gameplay. Although franchise producer Kazumashu Habu teased a new Story game in 2022, fans have been eagerly awaiting a new entry. While releases like Digimon Survive have provided some solace, the potential announcement of Digimon Story: Time Stranger could mark the end of a long wait for a true continuation of the series.
