Hearthstone revisits the Un’Goro Crater with its latest expansion, The Lost City of Un’Goro, launching on July 8th. This release brings a fresh narrative and revamped gameplay, building on the original 2017 Un’Goro debut.
What’s New in Hearthstone’s The Lost City of Un’Goro?
This expansion introduces 145 new cards, a unique keyword, and familiar mechanics. It centers on a thrilling expedition into the long-concealed city, driven by a captivating storyline.
The Lost City of Un’Goro follows Loh, a Tortollan adventurer, leading a team into the mysterious city. Elise Starseeker navigates, while Umbra, a former Tortollan leader, guides with hidden intentions that unravel throughout the set.
Here’s the highlight: The Lost City of Un’Goro debuts the Kindred keyword. Cards with Kindred gain a bonus effect if you played a card of the same minion type or spell school on your prior turn. This mechanic hinges on your previous turn’s play, not the current one.
Quest cards return as well. These 1-cost Legendary spells begin in your opening hand, with each class receiving a unique Quest. Fulfill its conditions to unlock a potent reward.
More Features to Explore
Seven Story cards tie back to the original Un’Goro set, weaving in references to past expeditions and characters for a nostalgic dive into the crater’s history.
The expansion also includes six new Map cards. Playing a Map lets you choose one card from three options. If you play the selected card in the same turn, you gain one of the other two options; otherwise, you keep only the first.
