A Decade in the Making
The development of Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been a lengthy process, facing numerous delays spanning almost a decade. Initially starting in 2015 after Dragon Age: Inquisition, the project (then codenamed "Joplin") was sidelined due to BioWare's focus shifting to Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem. Further complicating matters, the original design clashed with the company's live-service game strategy, leading to a complete development halt.
In 2018, the project was revived under the codename "Morrison." Formally announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022, the game eventually received its current title.
Despite the challenges, the wait is nearly over. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S this fall. Prepare yourselves, Thedas awaits!
