The Television Academy has unveiled nominations for the 77th Emmy Awards, with heavyweight contenders including Severance, The Penguin, The Last of Us, and Andor poised for September's ceremony.
During today's nomination announcement livestream hosted by Harvey Guillén (What We Do in the Shadows) and Brenda Song (Dollface), several series emerged as frontrunners for the September 14, 2025 awards show.
Severance Dominates with 27 Nominations
Apple TV+'s psychological thriller Severance leads this year's pack with an impressive 27 nominations, spanning major categories like Outstanding Drama Series, Directing, and Casting. The show's return after its acclaimed first season has clearly resonated with Television Academy voters.
The drama categories feature intense competition, with HBO's The White Lotus close behind at 23 nods, followed by The Last of Us (16), Andor (14), and The Pitt (13). Comedy races appear equally tight, with Seth Rogen's Apple TV+ satire The Studio earning 23 nominations against strong competitors like Hacks (14) and Shrinking (9).
Landmark Nomination for Screen Legend
In a historic moment, 83-year-old Harrison Ford receives his first Emmy nomination for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Shrinking. He faces stiff competition from co-star Michael Urie and The Bear's Ebon Moss-Bachrach among others.
Notable Snubs and Surprises
While Marvel's Agatha All Along went unrecognized (except for Kathryn Hahn's supporting nod for The Studio), Star Wars fans celebrated Andor's success while lamenting overlooked performances from Diego Luna and Stellan Skarsgård. Netflix's Squid Game shockingly received zero nominations.
