The game follows Cloud Strife, a former SOLDIER, as he joins Avalanche to thwart Shinra Electric Power Company's planet-destroying plans.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the sequel continuing the story beyond Midgar, receives update 1.080. This update enhances the game's realism and tactile feedback. The PC version launches January 23, 2025. This second installment in the trilogy expands the narrative with a greater focus on exploration.
While Final Fantasy XVI's initial May 2024 sales were disappointing, subsequent sales slowed, ultimately falling short of projected fiscal year targets. Specific sales figures remain undisclosed. Similarly, Square Enix has not released sales data for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which also underperformed expectations.
The company clarified that it doesn't consider Final Fantasy VII Rebirth a complete sales failure. Furthermore, it remains confident that Final Fantasy XVI can still meet its targets within the 18-month timeframe.
