The process in Monster Hunter Wilds is straightforward. Weaken the monster, set a trap, and use a tranquilizer item to capture it. Simple, yet effective.
Your Palico will alert you when a monster is weakened. Look for signs like a skull icon on the minimap or the monster limping or drooling, indicating low health.
Once weakened, deploy a trap. Place a Shock Trap or Pitfall Trap on the ground and lure the monster into it. When it’s caught, it’ll be briefly immobilized—your cue to use Tranq Bombs. One or two should suffice. Alternatively, craft Tranq Ammo or Tranq Blades based on your weapon and playstyle.
Capturing a monster completes the quest and returns you to Base Camp.
How to Get Traps and Tranq Items
Your Palico may set traps occasionally, but it’s wise to bring your own. Choose between Pitfall Traps, made with a Trap Tool and a Net (from Spiderwebs or Ivy), or Shock Traps, crafted with a Trap Tool and a Thunderbug Capacitor.
For tranquilizers, craft Tranq Bombs using a Sleep Herb and a Parashroom. Combine Tranq Bombs with Throwing Knives or Normal Ammo to create Tranq Blades or Tranq Ammo, respectively.
