Japanese Switch 2 Priced Lower Than Global Version

by Jonathan May 04,2025

The much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 will feature different pricing strategies in Japan and globally, reflecting the variations in its system versions. The console will come in two distinct editions: a Japanese-language system, exclusive to Japan, and a Multi-Language System, available worldwide.

Switch 2 Will Have 2 Language System Versions

In Japan, the Japanese-language version of the Nintendo Switch 2 will be priced at approximately $330. Meanwhile, the Multi-Language System version, catering to a global audience, will be priced at $449.99. This over $100 price difference is largely influenced by the current weak yen against the USD, which makes purchasing in Japan less attractive for tourists.

Japanese residents have the option to purchase the Multi-Language System version if they prefer. However, the Japanese-language version is exclusively available within Japan and can only be linked to Nintendo Accounts registered in Japan. This version supports only Japanese language and software available on the Japanese Nintendo eShop.

For fans outside Japan or those who prefer multiple language support, Nintendo recommends purchasing the Multi-Language System version. Further details on this version will be disclosed on April 4.

Switch 2 Will Be Sold By Lottery At The My Nintendo Store
