Jason Momoa Hints at Lobo's Role in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow

by Olivia May 12,2025

Jason Momoa is set to bring the iconic DC character Lobo to life in the upcoming 2026 DC Universe movie Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Known for his role as Aquaman in the former DC Extended Universe (DCEU), Momoa is excited to step into the shoes of his favorite comic book character, Lobo, in the rebooted DC Universe (DCU).

Lobo, an alien interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter from the planet Czarnia, boasts superhuman strength and immortality. As the last survivor of his now-dead world, similar to Superman, Lobo was first introduced by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen in Omega Men #3 back in 1983. Momoa has expressed a deep connection to the character, citing aesthetic similarities and a long-standing desire to portray him.

From Aquaman to Lobo, Jason Momoa is crossing DC universes.

In a conversation with ScreenRant, Momoa teased fans with a glimpse of what to expect from Lobo's appearance in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. He shared his excitement and nervousness about taking on the role, emphasizing the character's rough and gruff nature, and hinting at a visually accurate portrayal, including a cool bike. However, he also noted that Lobo's screen time would be limited, as the film primarily focuses on Supergirl.

PlayIn January, DC co-chief James Gunn unveiled the first image of Milly Alcock as Supergirl, marking the start of production on *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow*. The movie, inspired by the graphic novel by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira, follows the standalone story of an alien girl, Ruthye Marye Knoll, who seeks Supergirl's help to avenge her father's murder by the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills.

The cast for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow includes Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem, Eve Ridley as Ruthye, David Krumholtz as Supergirl's father Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother, alongside Jason Momoa as Lobo.

Scheduled for release in June 2026, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be the second film in the new DCU, following James Gunn's Superman this summer. The DCU will continue with the Clayface movie in September 2026.
