NetEase is launching an experimental feature to boost Marvel Rivals’ performance and lower memory demands. On April 30, Marvel Rivals shared via Twitter (X) that the Switch Shader Compilation Mode will debut, designed to improve gameplay, particularly for players with limited RAM or those experiencing FPS issues.

A blog post on the Marvel Rivals website detailed this feature, addressing player concerns about performance stutters and crashes caused by high memory usage during gameplay.

The blog explains, “To tackle memory overload, we’re introducing the Switch Shader Compilation Mode in Season 2. Players can enable this feature via the PC launcher starting with the Season 2 update.” It’s recommended for systems with 16GB of RAM or less.

With this feature activated, the game will offer these improvements:

 ● Shader compilation will only occur upon first launching the game after a new version or graphics driver update.
 ● Memory usage will be significantly reduced, minimizing severe FPS drops, frozen visuals, and crashes due to memory shortages.

Developers noted minor issues with this feature, such as temporary abnormal rendering of materials at the start of matches, which stabilizes shortly after. Some stutters may occur but typically resolve during gameplay.
