Marvel Rivals Season 1: A Double-Sized Debut
Marvel Rivals is kicking off its first season with a bang, boasting double the content of a typical season. This extended launch, dubbed "Eternal Night Falls," is set for January 10th at 1 AM PST and is attributed to the developers' decision to introduce the Fantastic Four as a unified group.
This supersized Season 1 will treat players to a wealth of new content. Three new maps based on iconic New York City locations are on the horizon:
- Sanctum Sanctorum: Launching alongside Season 1, this map will be the backdrop for the new Doom Match game mode.
- Midtown: This map will be the setting for Convoy missions, promising intense street battles.
- Central Park: Details on this map are currently scarce, with further information expected closer to the mid-season update.
The initial wave of Fantastic Four additions will include Mister Fantastic (a Duelist) and Invisible Woman (a Strategist). The Thing and Human Torch are slated to arrive in the mid-season update, approximately six to seven weeks after launch. While this season is significantly larger, NetEase Games hasn't clarified if this will affect the future release schedule of new heroes, maps, or game modes. For now, it's anticipated that the pattern of adding two characters per season will continue.
Despite the excitement surrounding Season 1, some fans expressed disappointment over the absence of Blade. While rumors circulated about his inclusion, his arrival remains uncertain. However, with the abundance of new content and ongoing speculation, the future of Marvel Rivals looks bright.
