The Primitive Challenge ranks among Phasmophobia’s toughest weekly trials. Without electronic aids, you must identify the ghost using minimal tools, leaning heavily on your instincts and understanding of ghost behaviors to complete investigations successfully.
This challenge unfolds at 10 Ridgeview Court, a house-style map with a navigable layout that offers safer spots compared to other locations. Like all weekly challenges, you need to complete three qualifying investigations to earn full rewards.
Tips & Strategies for Phasmophobia’s Primitive Challenge
Each weekly challenge in Phasmophobia comes with unique rules. For this one, pay close attention to your limited loadout, as the absence of key equipment shapes how you approach the investigation.
Electronics are off-limits, meaning no flashlights, DOTs projectors, video cameras, or other high-tech gear. Your toolkit is bare-bones, forcing you to adapt and rely on alternative methods (as shown below).

Sanity Medication is unavailable, but you begin with full sanity, offering temporary protection against ghostly aggression. Your gear includes two Tier 1 Crucifixes to block up to two hunt attempts if placed correctly, alongside Tier 2 Firelights and a complete set of Tier 1 Incense for added safety.
Evidence-gathering tools are scarce. You’re equipped with two Tier 3 Ghost Writing books, two Tier 1 “glowstick” UV lights doubling as flashlights and ultraviolet tools, and two Tier 1 thermometers to detect freezing temperatures.
From here, rely on your paranormal instincts to pinpoint the ghost type. Beyond standard evidence, each ghost in Phasmophobia exhibits unique behaviors. Mastering these distinctions takes practice, but our no-evidence cheat sheet can guide you.

Your top priority is locating the ghost quickly. With no access to the fuse box (due to the no-electronics rule), darkness heightens sanity loss. Fortunately, this challenge’s ghost shows increased activity, making it easier to track.
For a bolder approach, use the provided Cursed Object: the Ouija Board, located in the laundry room off the dining area on the first floor. Ask the ghost its “favorite room” for a direct answer, but this costs 50% sanity. Always say “Goodbye” to avoid breaking the board and triggering a Cursed Hunt. This tactic is safer in groups.
