Capcom is optimizing Monster Hunter Wilds for improved performance and reduced GPU requirements before its release. This follows feedback from the first open beta test, which revealed performance issues on PC.
Addressing Performance Concerns:
Capcom's German Twitter (X) account announced performance enhancements, particularly for the PS5's Prioritize Framerate mode, which boosts fps at the expense of some visual detail. Similar improvements are underway for the PC version, focusing on lowering the recommended GPU requirements. Currently, the minimum GPU requirements are an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT. Success in lowering these requirements would significantly broaden the game's accessibility.
A free benchmarking tool is also planned to help players determine optimal settings and PC compatibility.
Beta Test Feedback and Improvements:
The initial open beta test (October/November 2024) highlighted significant performance issues, including low-poly models and fps drops, even on high-end PCs. Capcom acknowledged these problems, stating that improvements were made since the beta, specifically addressing afterimage noise.
A second open beta test (February 7-10 & 14-17, 2025) is scheduled for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam, featuring new monsters. Whether these recent performance updates will be included remains to be seen.
The ongoing optimization efforts suggest a smoother, more accessible experience is on the horizon for Monster Hunter Wilds players.
