Moon Knight fans, take note: while Oscar Isaac’s enigmatic hero is set to make a return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it won’t be through a second season of the Disney+ series. In an interview with ComicBook, Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, shared exciting news about the future of the character but clarified that a Season 2 is off the table. Since the release of Moon Knight in 2022, Marvel Television has shifted its strategy, moving away from using TV shows as a launchpad for characters that tie into future projects.
Originally, Marvel's approach was to introduce characters through their own shows before integrating them into the larger MCU narrative. A prime example is Ms. Marvel, where Kamala Khan was first introduced on Disney+ before she appeared in The Marvels. However, Winderbaum noted that the strategy has evolved: “So I think Marvel Television has happened in waves, and I think Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future. And moving forward our priorities have shifted. We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road.”

While Isaac lent his voice to Moon Knight in the third and final season of the Disney+ animated series Marvel’s What If…?, there's no confirmed news yet on his return in live-action. Meanwhile, the MCU's upcoming TV lineup is packed with exciting titles, including Daredevil: Born Again premiering in March, Ironheart in June, Eyes of Wakanda in August, Marvel Zombies in October, and Wonder Man rounding out the year in December.
Last week, Marvel Television reportedly hit pause on development for three shows: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. However, Winderbaum revealed that the studio is exploring the possibility of bringing back the street-level heroes of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist, collectively known as The Defenders. This move could signal an exciting new chapter for Marvel’s television ventures.
