Supercell has released a major Clash Royale update headlined by the Spirit Empress, introducing innovative gameplay mechanics alongside this versatile new character. The update breathes fresh life into the beloved tactical arena battler, offering lapsed players compelling reasons to return.
Introducing Merge Tactics
The new Merge Tactics mode retains core gameplay while adding a strategic unit-combining system. Veteran mobile gamers will notice similarities to Rush Royale's mechanics, where fusing units creates more powerful variants.
The Spirit Empress emerges as Clash Royale's most adaptable champion yet. Players can deploy her as a 3-Elixir ground unit or summon her majestic spirit dragon mount for 6 Elixir, creating dynamic tactical options.

The update also supercharges the Skeleton Barrel with an Evolution upgrade. These enhanced barrels now explode on impact, dealing area damage while spawning skeletons. Damaging them mid-flight triggers premature explosions, creating chaotic skeleton swarms to overwhelm opponents.
July Event Calendar Highlights
From now until July 14th, the Skeleton Barrel Evolution Draft lets players experience Card Evolutions through classic draft mechanics.
The Spirit Empress Spotlight runs July 14th-21st, followed by an intensive Showdown from July 18th-21st to master her dual-form combat style.
Sudden Death returns July 21st-28th with its instant-win crown mechanic, while the Goblin Party Rocket (July 28th-August 4th) introduces special explosive gameplay.
