Star Wars: Jedi Power Battles Gets Playable Jar Jar Binks and More!
Aspyr has unveiled a surprising playable character for the upcoming re-release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles: Jar Jar Binks! A new trailer showcases the Gungan wielding a large staff in action. This is just one of ten new playable characters revealed so far, with more to come.
The 2000 release of Jedi Power Battles featured beloved characters and locations from Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Aspyr's updated version aims to capture the original's charm while adding fresh content. Along with customizable lightsaber colors and cheat code support, players can now control a roster of new characters, with Jar Jar Binks being the latest addition.
The trailer shows Jar Jar engaging enemies with his staff and signature chaotic dialogue. While some might have envisioned a Darth Jar Jar-esque red lightsaber wielding character, this version stays true to the original's comedic portrayal. Jar Jar Binks will be playable when Jedi Power Battles launches on January 23rd; pre-orders are available now.
New Playable Characters Revealed:
- Jar Jar Binks
- Rodian
- Flame Droid
- Gungan Guard
- Destroyer Droid
- Ishi Tib
- Rifle Droid
- Staff Tusken Raider
- Weequay
- Mercenary
Aspyr is significantly expanding the game's playable roster. In addition to Jar Jar Binks, nine other new characters have been revealed, with more announcements anticipated. This diverse selection includes familiar faces like the Staff Tusken Raider and Rodian, alongside various droid types (Flame Droid, Destroyer Droid, and Rifle Droid). The Gungan Guard also joins the fray, making Jar Jar not the only Gungan playable character.
With the launch just weeks away, fans can soon experience these new additions to Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles. Aspyr's past work on titles like Star Wars: Bounty Hunter suggests they aim to deliver a nostalgic yet enhanced experience for long-time fans.
