Star Wars Outlaws Set for Nintendo Switch 2 Release

by Charlotte May 01,2025

Ubisoft has officially announced that Star Wars: Outlaws will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2, although it won't be available at the console's launch on June 5. Instead, fans will have to wait a few months until September 4 to dive into this space adventure on the new Nintendo handheld.

For those who might have missed it on other platforms like PS5, Xbox, and PC, Star Wars: Outlaws is set in the timeline between "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi." The game follows the journey of Kay Vess, a small-time criminal who finds herself targeted by a cartel. Our review gave it a solid 7, praising it as "a fun intergalactic heist adventure with great exploration," but noted some drawbacks such as "simple stealth, repetitive combat, and a few too many bugs at launch."

While Ubisoft didn't delve into many details, they confirmed the game's arrival on the Nintendo Switch 2, which allows us to update the Switch 2 Games List. This news comes as a welcome distraction for American and Canadian gamers who are currently navigating pre-order uncertainties due to new tariffs introduced by the Republican administration.

The announcement was made during a panel at Star Wars Celebration in Japan, where Ubisoft also unveiled the second story pack for Star Wars: Outlaws, titled "A Pirate’s Fortune." In this expansion, Kay Vess will ally with Hondo Ohnaka to confront Stinger Tash, the leader of the Rokana Raiders. "Star Wars: Outlaws: A Pirate’s Fortune" is set to release on May 15, adding more excitement for fans of the franchise.
