Survival of the Fittest stands out as one of the toughest challenges in Phasmophobia due to the severe limitations it imposes on players. The objective is to correctly identify the ghost without relying on traditional evidence or the comfort of sanity.
This challenge takes place at 42 Edgefield Road, a house-style map known for its narrow corridors, blind corners, and claustrophobic atmosphere, making ghost tracking and evasion particularly challenging.
Tips & Tricks To Complete Survival of the Fittest in Phasmophobia
Upon entering the location, be aware of the specific rules in play. Traditional evidence collection is off the table since your equipment does not include standard tools like Ghost Writing Books or DOTs Projectors, nor Video Cameras for additional angles.

Instead, you'll need to focus on the ghost's unique behaviors, such as its movement speed, ghost model, and other traits. Utilize the provided tools effectively; for instance, the Parabolic Microphone can pick up specific ghost sounds, Salt can reveal a Wraith's presence, and lighting three Firelights in a row might uncover an Onyro. You begin this challenge with virtually no setup time—just five seconds—and zero sanity, making you an immediate target for ghost hunts. Sanity cannot be replenished, despite the two Sanity Medications you're given. The ghost will exhibit high activity, and events will occur frequently, aiding in your observation of its behavior. Remember, the ghost's favorite room will remain constant throughout the challenge.
Most doors start partially open, complicating location detection, but the fuse box will be functional and on from the start. All nine hiding spots at 42 Edgefield Road are available, offering ample opportunities to hide during hunts.

The challenge provides one Cursed Possession, the Monkey Paw. Using it to "wish for knowledge" can eliminate incorrect evidence and ghost types in your Journal, improving your chances of a correct guess. However, this comes at a high risk: temporary blindness and deafness, followed by a Cursed Hunt. This strategy is best suited for group play, where one player can act as a decoy.
