Farewell, SwitchArcade Round-Up Readers! This is it – the final regular SwitchArcade Round-Up from me. After many years, I'm moving on to new adventures. Next week, I'll share a few final reviews with specific embargo dates, but this marks the end of my regular contributions.
Reviews & Mini-Views
Fitness Boxing feat. HATSUNE MIKU ($49.99)
Imagineer's Fitness Boxing series continues with a Hatsune Miku collaboration. This rhythm-based fitness game offers daily workouts, mini-games, and Miku-themed content. While the core gameplay is solid, featuring adjustable difficulty, free training, and progress tracking, the main instructor's voice is somewhat jarring. Best used to supplement, rather than replace, other fitness routines. Joy-Con-only.
The game's audio is excellent, but the instructor's voice is a significant drawback. Unlockable cosmetics provide extra motivation. I haven't explored the DLC yet.
SwitchArcade Score: 4/5
Magical Delicacy ($24.99)
A Metroidvania-cooking hybrid, Magical Delicacy blends exploration, crafting, and cooking. The exploration is surprisingly well-executed, but inventory management and the UI could use improvement. The beautiful pixel art and soundtrack are highlights. Some frame pacing issues were observed.
The game boasts excellent visuals, music, and extensive settings options, including UI scaling. It plays well on Switch, with good rumble, and would likely benefit from future updates to refine its systems.
SwitchArcade Score: 4/5
Aero The Acro-Bat 2 ($5.99)
A polished sequel to the original, Aero The Acro-Bat 2 delivers a solid 16-bit platforming experience. Ratalaika's improved emulator wrapper includes bonus features like box scans, achievements, a gallery, and cheats. The Super NES version is included; a Mega Drive version would have been a welcome addition.
A great release for fans of the series and 16-bit platformers. The enhanced emulator wrapper is a significant improvement.
SwitchArcade Score: 3.5/5
Metro Quester | Osaka ($19.99)
A prequel to the original Metro Quester, this expansion introduces a new Osaka setting, dungeon, characters, and enemies. The turn-based combat, top-down exploration, and strategic gameplay remain core elements. Careful planning is key.
A satisfying experience for fans of the original and a great entry point for newcomers. The new elements expand upon the existing systems effectively.
SwitchArcade Score: 4/5
