Akatsuki Games Announces End of Service for Tribe Nine

Tribe Nine Shutting Down Just Months After Launch

Akatsuki Games has unexpectedly announced the termination of service for their newest title, Tribe Nine. Shockingly, the game will conclude operations on November 27th, 2025—merely nine months after its February 2024 debut across Android, iOS, and Steam platforms. What caused this abrupt closure? Here's the breakdown.

Confirmed Shutdown Details

The servers for Tribe Nine will cease operation on November 27th, 2025. Disappointingly, Akatsuki confirmed that the Chapter 4 story update will never release, despite recent in-game teases building anticipation. All planned updates, bug fixes, and new features—including upcoming characters Ichinosuke Akiba and Saizo Akiba—have been permanently canceled as of May 15th.

Players who purchased Enigma Entities (the premium currency) for specific services will receive refunds after their contracts expire. In-game purchases are now disabled, though existing currency can still be used until shutdown.

What Went Wrong for Tribe Nine?

Though praised for its unique extreme action RPG gameplay and distinctive aesthetic, Tribe Nine struggled from launch. The content rollout proved painfully slow—just one story chapter and a single event in three months. Additionally, the surprisingly player-friendly gacha system diminished revenue potential: teams could be built effectively with minimal pulls, eliminating the need for duplicate character investments.

This ultimately made monetization unsustainable, despite positive reception. While playable until November, its future is sealed. For those curious, the experience remains available on Google Play.
